SERVICES I OFFER
Personalized Care and Guidance
I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. I believe that clients already have many of the skills they need to move forward in life. Seeing a skilled therapist can help to build insight into those skills and provide ways to incorporate them into their everyday life.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Here For You
You know yourself better than anyone else. Working with a therapist who can help you continue to build that insight is key. Some of the treatment modalities I use are Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and Motivation interviewing (MI). I am also an EMDRIA certified EMDR therapist and a level 1 trained Internal Family Systems therapist through the IFS Institute. My approach is tailored to meet the needs of each client individually. Reach out today to start working on your goals.
EATING DISORDER SPECIALTY
Support and Guidance
I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders across the spectrum. No matter where you are in your journey towards recovery, I can help provide support and skills to help you continue on your path. I also work closely with trusted team of psychiatrists and registered dieticians in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
Some clients, depending on their symptoms, may work more effectively with a therapist in a face-to-face setting or require a higher level of care. If this is determined through assessment, I can help to facilitate that referral.
TELETHERAPY
A Happier, Healthier You
Teletherapy allows clients to see a trusted therapist in a way that is both safe and convenient. Clients can receive the support they need without the additional time spent traveling to and from an office.
Treatment is provided through Simple Practice which is a secure HIPAA compliant platform. Clients can complete opening paperwork, engage in effective therapy sessions, and even pay with a few easy steps.
Teletherapy is appropriate for those that are not in life threatening situations or at risk for suicide attempts. If these symptoms are part of your reason for seeking therapy, I recommend finding an in-person therapist.
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING THERAPY (EMDR)
EMDRIA CERTIFIED EMDR THERAPIST
Healing is Possible
The mind can often heal itself naturally, in the same way as the body does. Much of this natural coping mechanism occurs during sleep, particularly during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Francine Shapiro developed EMDR in 1987, utilizing this natural process to treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Since then, EMDR has been used to effectively treat a wide range of mental health concerns.
EMDR therapy works well with many other treatment modalities and can be a very effective part of a client's collaborative treatment plan. EMDR can accelerate therapy by resolving the impact of a client's past traumas and allowing clients to live more fully in the present.
If you want to learn more about this treatment option or would like to determine if it's right for you, please reach out.
ABOUT ME
My name is Carrie McNulty, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Pennsylvania. I started Solace Clinical Associates because I wanted to reach clients throughout the state who would benefit from engaging in teletherapy.
In 2002, I graduated from Penn State and started my career in mental health working as a Resource Coordinator/ Case manager. In 2008, I moved to Northern Ireland for a year and had the opportunity to work at a residential mental health program. This inspired me to attend grad school in 2009 at The University of Pittsburgh where I earned my MSW in 2011. From there, I began working at a Partial Hospitalization program/ Intensive Outpatient program at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic treating eating disorders. I worked closely with a skilled group of clinicians to treat clients at all stages in their recovery. In 2014, I moved to private practice to continue working with clients on a more individual level.
I truly believe that one of the most important aspects of therapy is the therapeutic relationship you build together. I offer a genuine, empathetic, client centered perspective. Recovery and wellness is possible for everyone.

YOUR RIGHT TO A GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
For Self Pay Clients
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using in-network insurance coverage an estimate of the bill for health services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees, but also includes psychotherapy/marriage/family therapy.
A Good Faith Estimate should be available in writing at least 1 business day before your initial session whenever possible. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before/at the time when you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
